This course examines Modern Europe from the Enlightenment to the twentieth century, taking into account historical processes from the perspective of a main text along with additional primary and secondary sources. It is intended as an introductory course to orient students to the main themes and debates. Topics covered include Enlightenment and Revolution, Industrialization, Liberalism, Communism, Capitalism, Nationalism, Culture, Ideology, and Warfare.
